Professional Summary

I am a Senior IT professional with over 23 years’ experience IT Industry, in addition to 8 years in the automotive sector and 25 years of that specialising in software development and data engineering. I have a proven track record of analysing, designing, and delivering international e-commerce solutions, large-scale data warehouses, and reporting systems. My expertise spans the full project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and planning to implementation and support, utilising both traditional and agile methodologies as appropriate.

I am recognised for my strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, calm approach under pressure, and ability to recruit, mentor, and lead development teams—both locally and internationally. I consistently deliver working solutions on time, motivate teams to achieve project goals, and ensure high standards of quality and process are maintained.

While I have extensive leadership experience, I have intentionally chosen not to move into a purely management role, as I genuinely enjoy remaining hands-on with technology and development. My passion for IT drives me to continually learn and stay up to date with the latest technologies, and I enjoy sharing this enthusiasm with others. I believe that ongoing learning is essential for success in IT, and I am committed to fostering a culture of growth and innovation within my teams.

3D Printing and CNC

I have recently constructed a Voron 0.2R1, which has allowed me to deepen my understanding and skills in both (FDM) and the processes involved in additive and subtractive manufacturing via 2018 CNC Router.

Electronics and Microcontrollers

I am experienced with a range of tools and technologies, including ESP32, Arduino, and Raspberry Pi. My interests extend to working with electronic circuits, soldering, and employing equipment such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and microscopes. I also enjoy repairing old electronics, which enables me to continually develop my practical problem-solving abilities in this field.

Home Lab

I maintain a home laboratory environment where I work with Linux systems, Home Assistant, and programming languages such as, MicroPython, and C. My home lab also includes Network-Attached Storage (NAS), Internet of Things (I.O.T.) devices, and various networking projects.

CAD and CAM

I utilise software such as Fusion 360, where I design parts, create circuit designs and PCB layouts, and manage Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) processes. Additionally, I have beginner-level experience with SolidWorks.

Woodwork and DIY

I am learning woodwork and woodturning from my father, and enjoy undertaking home DIY projects. My practical interests include woodworking and building, although gardening is not one of my pursuits.

Movies and Books

I am passionate about science fiction, whether reading or listening to works by authors such as Asimov, Clarke, and Doc Smith, as well as enjoying many sci-fi anime shows and other science fiction such as Red Dwarf
